Winter Season
PLAY FOR KARORI
Players registering for our Club social grades are placed into teams before the start of the season (mid‑April). Alternatively, players may register to trial for a Swifts Academy team, with selections made in late February and placements confirmed shortly thereafter.
Club social grade teams are formed by grade coordinators, who work to group players with friends or peers from the same school. Families should list two or three preferred friends when completing the registration form.
Club social grade emphasises enjoyment, with parent‑led trainings or the option to participate in the club‑run Waterside Training programme.
Teams compete on Saturday or Sunday mornings at various Wellington venues, according to the weekly Capital Football draw, available here,

2027 Season: Early May to end of August
Club Registration Fee: $190
Football runs on the first and last weekend of the school holidays, but we take a break for Easter weekend and the middle weekend of the holidays.
WEEKEND GAMES
For U10 and U11, games are 7 a side (including a goalkeeper). Teams usually have 9 - 10 players. U10s play two 24 min games each Saturday (one after the other at the same venue), while U11s play one 50 min game
For U12 and U13, games are 9-a-side (including a goalkeeper). Teams usually have 11-12 players. Teams play one 56-minute game. U12s play on Saturdays while U13s play on Sundays.
Swifts and Club Grade Waterside Karori AFC teams play in the “Wellington/Western Zone Combined Leagues” and “Regional Leagues” (for select Swifts squads U11 and above).
CLUB GRADE TRAINING
All Club social grade players have the option to register for our Waterside Training Programme. Alternatively, teams can opt for parent-run trainings, led by a parent coach from each team (or the team can opt to engage a club coach for an additional cost).

WATERSIDE TRAINING
The Waterside Training Programme is all about providing players of all abilities, the chance to play more football, have fun and improve skills.
It is open to all players in U10 - 13 who aren’t involved in the Swifts Academy programmes.
The Waterside Training Programme offers:

SWIFTS SUMMER TRAINING PROGRAMME
The Swifts Summer Training Programme is available to Club Social players who would like to continue training during Term 1 and Term 4, and/or those who are considering trialling for a Swifts Academy team for the winter season.
No prior participation in the Swifts Academy or Waterside Karori AFC teams is necessary and all players regardless of previous club, school or experience level and welcome.

SWIFTS ACADEMY
From U10 upwards, players can register to trial for our Swifts Academy teams.
Swifts teams play against other selected teams from across the Wellington region, which means tougher competition and a more advanced level of football.
These teams take part in the Swifts Academy programme, which includes two trainings a week and expects a consistently high standard of behaviour.
Swifts training fees are charged in addition to the annual Club Registration fee for the winter season. See here for more details or trainings and fees.
Players who are not selected will be offered a place in a Club Grade team.
