Foundation Football U7 - U9

FOUNDATION FOOTBALL AT WKAFC

The Foundation Football programme operates throughout the winter season (May–August) for players in the U7–U9 age groups. The programme emphasises skill‑development activities and small‑sided games to ensure players receive frequent ball touches, build core techniques, and enjoy their football experience.

Age eligibility is based on a player’s age as at 1 January each year. For example, a player aged 6 on that date should register for the U7 programme.

Registrations are open annually from 1 January to 31 March.

For further information, please contact foundation@karorifootball.co.nz.

Under 7s

Players take part in skill bulding activites each week followed by small sided games

Under 8s and Under 9s

Players take part in skill building games each week and are introduced to more focused teamplay with Capital Football Festival Weekends (see more about Fun Festivals below).

Saturday Draw for U8s and U9s

CAPITAL FOOTBALL FUN FESTIVALS (U8 - U9)

These festivals feature multiple small‑sided games and are scheduled every few weeks, with times and venues published in the Capital Football draw. Grade coordinators will provide weekly updates to parents and team managers.

Every third(ish) Saturday is "Festival Weekend". Under 8 and Under 9 play an inter-club tournament these weekends.

The tournaments are held around Wellington, meaning that sometimes they will be at Karori Park Turf, but other times they may be further afield (for example Wakefield Park in Island Bay).

Capital Football publishes a draw the week before each Festival Weekend, which determines when and where you will play.
