ABOUT SHOOTING STARS
Shooting Stars is the introductory stage of Waterside Karori’s football pathway for children aged 3–6. The focus is on enjoyment, social connection, and early skill development.
Sessions are 45–50 minutes and begin with a group warm‑up and ball‑manipulation activities. Coaches then run fun, skill‑based exercises aimed at individual development. While coaches cannot always provide individual attention, parents are welcome to signal for assistance if needed.
More confident groups may conclude with a short game.
Children at this age may require varying levels of parental support, and this can change from week to week. Over time, as they gain confidence and experience, players naturally progress at different speeds — this is expected and encouraged.
In the event of poor weather, sessions will be cancelled and families notified by email. We also understand that some days may simply feel too cold for your child to participate. The clubrooms café offers a warm alternative for families on those days.
GEAR
Football boots are recommended, mainly for grip at the turf. These can be hard to source, but Rebel sport usually has boots available for smaller feet. There is also a boot bank in the clubrooms.
Please ensure you bring a water bottle to keep your little one hydrated, and a pair of gloves is recommended when it gets really cold.
